CMMC 1 “A Louviers Affair” was completed on 18 November 2002!
A massive archive database is available on the below link. This resource contains over 50 Megabytes of game related material including map graphics, player orders and analysis, GM communications and other interesting material. It is organized by turn and by division.
CMMC1’s mission was simple - bring operational wargaming dimension to Combat Mission Beyond Overlord to resolve multi-division campaigns.
To accomplish this objective, CMMC1 uses a Player controlled Chain of Command, a GM Cadre to resolve game interaction, rulebook, online communication forums and, of course, CMBO. These structures and processes were tested in a CPX (Command Post eXercise) that featured a two-day meeting engagement between a US Inf. Div. and German PzGr. Div. set in Lorraine, SEP ’44.
The CMMC1 scenario is a historically based ‘what-if ’ occurring mid AUG ’44 on banks of Seine River between cities of Louviers and Evreux. Strategic situation assumes an early German withdrawal from Normandy beaches, thereby avoiding Falaise encirclement and subsequent collapse. Major operational units are British XXX Corps and German II SS-Panzer-Korps.
Over 100 players in each corps have participated, along with 20 GMs. 100+ CM battles (varying in size from company to regiment per side) have been played so far.
